There WAS collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, and this was made clear in the Mueller Report.
Mueller said that his job was only to uncover the truth. He said that Trump was not exonerated, and that there were improprieties and they should have been dealt with by Congress.
Putin was pleased by Trump's election, because it made American democracy look bad (Trump got millions fewer votes) and of course, Trump provokes Americans to hate one another. Putin likes to see chaos prevail in the West.
